National Service Expansion
The House is expected to take up HR. 1388, passed already by the Senate, this week The bill significantly increases funding for community service programs and could triple the number of Americans working in national service and volunteer organizations such as Americorp. We note, with sorrow, the death of long-time ADA activist Celeste Behrend. Celeste was a devoted national board member, a frequent participant at ADA national conventions and the former chair of the Western Pennsylvania chapter. She will be missed.
