DC Moving Forward with Marriage Equality Bill
Last Tuesday, DC City Council approved a vote to send a bill legalizing same-sex marriage to the full council for debate. Watch ADA's National Director testify before the Council on behalf of ADA and the Greater Washington Area ADA Chapter:
The next step is tomorrow, when the bill is sent to the Committee of the Whole for mark-up.
ADA Education Fund Poll Results
Since 1947, educational equality has been one of ADA's major goals. This ADA Ed Fund study examines public attitudes, nationally and among key demographic groups, regarding this goal with particular emphasis on public attitudes -- and perceived student access -- regarding publicly funded institutions, private non-profit institutions, and private for-profit institutions. Investment in education is always a winner!
The House Education and Labor Committee is expected to vote this Wednesday on the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA). With 27 known yes votes, the bill is expected to pass the Committee and move back to the House.
