Let's wait until things get worse.
That's the philosphy some Senators are using to justify a delay in passing health care reform. Is this what we elected them to do?
We sent them to Congress to pass meaningful reform of our health care system.
This weekend the Senate took a step foward in passing health care reform, voting 60-39 to begin debate. That was good, but it was only the beginning. Now comes the hard part. We have to work - day and night - to get the strongest, most robust bill possible through the Senate. Donate to ADA so we can continue the fight.
Some Senators are already proposing opt-outs and triggers, doing everything they can to block a public option and reward the Big Insurance companies who are only out to continue making massive profits off the healthy while denying care to the sick and injured.
Just this weekend, Joe Lieberman said, "If the public option is still in there, the only resort we have is to say no at the end to voting the bill off the floor."
Donate to ADA so we can continue to organize, mobilize and educate Senators and their constituents.
Over 60% of Americans believe reform should include a public option. Without it, all Congress is doing is expanding our current, broken system that puts profits before care. But we can't reach enough Members of Congress without your help. Here are two things you can do:
First, donate to ADA so our grassroots lobbyists can keep visiting Capitol Hill. See video clips of ADA's staff visiting Congress and protesting insurance providers on our You Tube page.
Second, send your lawmakers this email telling them to pass real reform with a public option (and supporting Medicare for All). And while you're at it, give them a call at 202-224-3121 and tell them in person.
Don't let up for one minute! We don't support delay and we don't want to wait until things get worse.
