We’ve been here before.

For more than 60 years Americans for Democratic Action (ADA) has seen Congress turn-over time and time again.  From Republicans to Democrats and back again, it seems like a never-ending battle for control.  This election we were handed a tough defeat in the House of Representatives, but we know that when the history books are written, liberal values are always on the right side of history.

Looking around today – from expanded health care coverage, promoting 21st century green energy alternatives to avoid oil spills, to ending the War in Iraq and Afghanistan, to promoting worker’s rights – we are on still on the right side of history.

Our fight goes on with greater urgency and supporters like you are key to keeping Americans for Democratic Action in the game – working to deliver a progressive message to the House and Senate on critical issues like healthcare reform, pay equity and Hate Crimes Protection. Together we can still move forward on the Dream Act, Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell reform, the Employee Free Choice Act and other liberal issues we all hold dear.   We will do it by organizing, educating, and building a grassroots army to make a difference.

In yesterday's election, the ADA PAC was able to contribute to some critical victories.  Rep. Raul Grijalva, co-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, was able to hold on in Arizona, and as were Rep. Bruce Braley and Dave Loebsack in Iowa.  Also, Sen. Barbara Boxer won a close race in California, and Sen. Patty Murray is holding a slim lead as they count absentee ballots in Washington State.

However, the defeats were bitter, as champions like Rep. Phil Hare (D-IL), Mark Schauer (D-MI), Carol Shea Porter (D-NH) and Dina Titus were all swept out of office.  Challengers like Dan Seals (D-IL), Joe Sestak (D-PA) and Ann Kuster (D-NH) could not withstand the conservative tide which washed across the country.  We must start charting the new path forward today for progressive and liberal activists.

Your investment in ADA is essential to keep us fighting for liberal values. Yes, our job just got harder, but that is why your support is even more important – we need a louder voice to hold this Congress accountable. That's why today, we are kicking off our Hold-Their–Feet-to-the-Flames Fund where we will be investing resources to make sure our voices are heard and liberal values are represented in the Congress.

Will you invest in a more liberal America?  We have an aggressive goal of kicking off our efforts by raising $10,000 Online.  Will you chip in $100, $50 or even $25 to make sure we have the resources to make sure the Congress keeps fighting for liberal values?

In Solidarity,
