The Budget Cut War Begins
The 2011 Federal Budget is stuck between the cuts proposed by the Obama Administration and the even worse cuts proposed by the Congressional Republicans. The most vulnerable in our society are going to be impacted by the results. What we really need is to acknowledge that the core of our deficit problems is caused by a 20th century military budget and a regressive tax structure that doesn't fully fund our government. NLRB Offers New Employers Regulation
ADA has joined with the National Workrights Institute to respond to the new proposed NLRB regulation which would require employers to post a notice telling workers about their existing rights under the National Labor Relations Act. Maryland & D.C. Fight for Equal Rights
ADA submitted testimony to the Maryland State Senate in support of SB 116, the Religious Freedom and Civil Marriage Protection Act, which would extend the rights of marriage to gay and lesbian couples in Maryland. In addition, ADA has been busy lobbying key Members of Congress not to overturn the District of Columbia's marriage equality law, which the Supreme Court recently refused to review.
