In these times, it is important to build alliances and organize together to make a difference. That’s what I strive for in the House of Representatives - but it’s not enough. We need to organize across the country if we are going to create the progressive change that our country needs. That’s why I am so proud to serve as the President of Americans for Democratic Action! Americans for Democratic Action (ADA) has been a leading voice fighting for progressive causes for over 60 years. They are champions of the values you and I hold dear -- protecting our homes, our jobs and our environment, while campaigning for the end of U.S. involvement in senseless occupations abroad.
With the 2012 elections quickly approaching, it is more important than ever for us to prepare for the tough fight. While Sarah Palin organizes the Tea Party Express, we must organize ourselves. The 2010 elections were a setback, but I feel we can not only reclaim the House, but also create real progressive change. We need only to be willing to do the hard work of organizing, communicating, and informing the American people about the regressive strategies of the GOP. ADA has 60 years of experience of providing policy assistance on issues and grassroots education for America's working families.
ADA has been a proud supporter of the Congressional Progressive Caucus and has been a progressive leader on:
- Repealing the discriminatory Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell;
- Standing up for universal health care reform for all Americans;
- Protecting Social Security and Medicare;
- Urging new investments in alternative energy and green technologies;
- Protecting a woman’s right to choose; and
- Ending costly and unnecessary military interventions overseas.
It is an honor to be the President of Americans for Democratic Action, and as a fellow progressive I am asking for you to support our values by sending a special gift to help us victoriously travel the road ahead. You and I both know that we have an uphill battle, but by joining forces with ADA, I am confident that we can lay the groundwork for progressive gains in Congress. I hope you will join with me in supporting American for Democratic Action today by sending $15, $25, $50 or more today.
