Now tell them thanks
On June 24, the New York Senate passed a marriage equality bill and Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed it into law.
This historic victory wouldn't have happened without the leadership of New York's six openly LGBT state lawmakers – Harry Bronson, Tom Duane, Deborah Glick, Micah Kellner, Danny O'Donnell and Matt Titone.
Their personal appeals to their fellow lawmakers helped sway crucial votes in support of equality. Being able to talk about what marriage means to them and to their families made all the difference.
We won this fight because gays and lesbians are finally being seen as fully human, and fully deserving of the same opportunities, protections and responsibilities as anyone else who wants to build a life with someone they cherish.
