Isakson, Merkley and Experts to Speak on America's Housing Crisis
PPI and e21 to Host Housing Conference
WASHINGTON, D.C. – As policymakers wrestle with the challenge of jumpstarting the economy and creating jobs, the Progressive Policy Institute and e21 will join forces on Tuesday, October 4 at 8:30 a.m. to highlight an issue that deserves more attention in Washington – what to do about the housing crisis. New Solutions for America's Housing Crisis will convene the nation's foremost leaders and experts on housing policy and offer new ideas for the challenges facing the housing market.
Sens. Johnny Isakson (R-Ga.) and Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) along with four distinguished panels will tackle questions such as, the right size and role of government in housing, and what to do about the millions of American homeowners who owe more on their mortgages than what their houses are worth. The daylong conference aims to elevate housing as a critical piece of the national debate on economic recovery and highlight innovative proposals for stabilizing the housing market.
