Tax Simplification:

What can the U.K. and U.S. learn from each other?

Whether from the left, right, or center, there is almost universal agreement among elected officials in Washington that the federal tax code is long overdue for an overhaul. In recent years, the calls for tax reform and the number of tax simplification proposals has multiplied. In the United Kingdom elected officials have been reviewing their tax system and ideas for improving it. One such effort has been led by Ian Liddell-Grainger, MP. The discussion will focus on what’s happening on tax reform on both sides of the Atlantic.

The Progressive Policy Institute and the Technology Policy Institute invite you to join us for a luncheon discussion of tax simplification on Tuesday, May 7th.

Our guest for this event will be the Honourable Ian Liddell-Grainger, MP and Chair of the All Party Taxation Group for Parliament in the United Kingdom. Led by Mr. Liddell-Grainger, the All Party Group has focused its efforts on the administration of tax policy at all levels in the U.K.

The informal discussion with Mr. Liddell-Grainger will take place with Rep. Richard Neal (D-Mass.),  former U.S. Sen. Bob Kerrey (D-Neb.) and Dr. Rudolph Penner. The event will be moderated by PPI Senior Fellow (and former senior advisor to the Simpson-Bowles Commission) Paul Weinstein Jr. and TPI Senior Fellow Arlene Holen.
