Rapid City, SD Regional Voting Hearing
RAPID CITY, SD REGIONAL HEARING
Thursday, May 1, 2014
3:00pm - 7:00pm
Attention voters and activists from Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, and South Dakota! The National Commission on Voting Rights is hosting hearings across the country to learn more about the current landscape of elections. Over the past few years, numerous states have enacted restrictive voting laws, while many others continue to grapple with recurring election administration and electoral reform challenges.
As part of a series of hearings being held across the country, the Commission will undertake a comprehensive examination of the record of voting rights and voting discrimination, as well as issues of election administration and electoral reform. The testimony, facts, and data gathered from the field hearings will be made available to anyone seeking to reform or improve existing voting laws including but not limited to policymakers, advocates, and the voting public.
There will be three ways testimony may be submitted:
· Panels – There will be several formal panels of witnesses representing voting rights organizations, community leaders, election officials, and other stakeholders.
· Open Sessions – There will be two opportunities during the hearing when voters can speak about their experiences.
· Written/Online – If you are unable to attend the hearing in person you can fill out the online form below to submit testimony or email: NCVR@lawyerscommittee.org
