In 2010, the Supreme Court ruled to lift a 60-year-old ban that kept corporations from influencing federal elections — a right specifically granted to people.

Big businesses with money to spend already had too much power over government. Since the Citizens United ruling, corporations like Goldman Sachs, ExxonMobil, Koch Industries and Big Pharma have exerted even more control.
