Join Chicago Organizers for a 1-Day Solidarity Hunger Strike
On Aug. 17, a dozen parents, teachers and community members began a hunger strike to save Dyett High School on the south side of Chicago. Dyett is the last open-enrollment public high school in Chicago's historic Bronzeville neighborhood, but in recent years Chicago Public Schools has made numerous attempts to close Dyett. Instead, the local community is fighting to transform Dyett into a sustainable community school called the Dyett Global Leadership and Green Technology Academy.
Add you name below to show your support for these Chicago organizers and join the 1-Day Solidarity Hunger Strike on Tuesday, Aug. 25.
Together, we can bring national media attention to this struggle and pressure the Chicago Board of Education into approving the Dyett community school proposal. We must take a stand to support community-driven school reform!
