ANSI/BPI-1100 describes 'what' an energy audit for existing single-family or townhouses consists of. The standard was developed to be a consistent point of reference for auditors and contractors who perform in the field and for policy makers and programs.
"The audit addresses energy usuage and limited aspects of builing durability and occupant health and safety, provides a comprehensive scope of work to improve the home, and includes a cost-benefit analysis. An assessment performed in accordance with the Home Energy Auditing Standard will gather all necessary data required to develop an asset rating using the U.S. Department of Energy's Home Energy Score."
