Today, October 3, 2016, Tom Carter joins Efficiency First as the new Executive Director. Tom brings over a decade of association executive experience in built environment industries. He has forged consensus among member companies of all sizes, identified industry objectives, and advocated for their successful achievement. Tom has spent more than 20 years developing his expertise in energy, climate change, air quality, sustainability, and other issues. Through building coalitions with partner industries, he has been an effective regulatory and legislative advocate for his members' interests at the state and federal levels.

“The board is excited to have someone of Tom’s caliber step into the leadership at Efficiency First. His first day is today, but he’s been diving in to better understand the industry and the needs of our members,” said Amy Beley, who’s been acting as interim Executive Director since June. “We’re ready for a strong leader to build on the momentum of the industry and our partners.

"I am honored and excited to lead Efficiency First into a dynamic time of opportunity for the home improvement industry,” said Tom. "The industry's contribution to improving the building stock and supporting contracting businesses to maximize the efficiency, safety, and comfort in homes is more important now than ever.”

Efficiency First would like to thank the Home Performance Coalition and E4theFuture for making the permanent position of Executive Director a reality for the association. The Efficiency First board has greatly appreciated Amy Beley’s leadership in this transitional time, and looks forward to her continued contributions as Chair of the board.

You’ll be hearing more from Tom soon. He's really interested to learn from you, our members and stakeholders, what you want to see Efficiency First do in the future. If you’d like to reach him, you can email him at Tom@EfficiencyFirst.org.
