Tell Uber: STOP the Shadiness & Pay Your Workers a Living Wage
New Yorkers believe in an economy where hard work pays off and responsibility is rewarded. But Uber – a $40 billion mega corporation – doesn’t play by the same set of rules as everyone else.
Uber has been sued for wage theft, snatching up to 30% of their drivers’ earnings. The company has been criticized for providing unsafe working conditions for female workers, while supporting predatory lending practices towards its drivers.
Despite its shady practices, Uber's mostly white male leadership is spending millions on political style attack ads, undermining our elected officials and spreading illogical assertions that that legislation to cap for-hire-vehicles will affect underserved outer-boroughs and communities of color.
Tell Uber to STOP spending big bucks on their "smear campaign" and instead pay their workers a living wage!
New technological advances, like ride-sharing apps, can mean real gains for working families. But that won't happen if self-serving corporate giants like Uber are allowed to cheat their workers and write the rules for their own industry.
