Letter to the Editor

The Seniors and Veterans Emergency Benefits Act (or SAVE Benefits Act) only stands a chance if we can draw attention to it.

"Ask any veteran, retiree, or American with disabilities and they will tell you that cost of food, doctor's visits, and prescription drugs keeps going up. But this year, Social Security benefits stayed flat. Meanwhile, the inflated salaries and bonuses of Wall Street CEOs are only getting bigger. The SAVE Benefits Act, sponsored by Senator Elizabeth Warren and 21 of her colleagues, would address both issues by giving Social Security beneficiaries a one-time $580 payment, and paying for it by closing a loophole that gives corporations tax breaks for the giant bonuses they give their CEOs. I urge every Member of Congress to co-sponsor this common sense bill!"
