Super Committee Appointments
The deal to raise the debt ceiling created a “Super Committee” that will decide Social Security’s fate over the next few months. Twelve members of Congress will be appointed to the committee in the next two weeks. They will have enormous power. They can recommend deep benefit cuts. Their plan will be fast-tracked for an up-or-down vote. No changes in what they recommend will be possible.
Sign our letter to Congressional leaders telling them only to appoint to the Super Committee members of Congress who are committed to keeping their hands off Social Security.
