Arizona has the most solar per capita of any state in the union. In 2012, Arizona installed more utility-scale solar than any other state. AZ installed even more utility-scale solar than California - the state that installed the most solar in the nation.
So what can we expect from solar in Arizona in 2013? Here’s where the future becomes a bit blurry. The Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) is the group responsible for making decisions about Arizona’s energy future. The commission’s previous work to build the state’s solar industry produced solid benefits for Arizona’s economy, including almost 10,000 jobs and $637 million in investments in 2011 alone. But in January, the ACC rolled back critical incentives for the Arizona solar industry, and there’s a chance they could do even more damage in the coming months.
We’re fighting back. Tell the ACC to do the right thing for the state and protect this important industry.
