"38 Years is Too Late" Not To Adjust the Cap for Malpractice Victims
Since 1975 the value of everything has gone up, except the value of a child’s life. A cap that doesn’t adjust for inflation was flawed from the day it was signed. The law setting the cap, which has not been indexed for inflation, is so old that Jerry Brown signed it into law during his first term when legislators made $22,000 per year.
