As any surfer will tell you, there is nothing sweeter than the sight of the first set of waves. And, at Ocean Champions this is no exception. Today we announce the first of three waves of candidates we plan to endorse for Congress. Each succeeding wave of endorsements promises to be more intriguing than the last. Our first wave, below, is for our old friends, those candidates we've endorsed before and who have continued to do good things in Congress.
Some of these are veteran members, while others are still working their way up. All share a commitment to protecting our oceans, and to working with Ocean Champions to make ocean health a top priority in Congress. So without further ado, here are our first endorsements of 2008:
Rep. Tom Allen (D-Me.)
Please click on the name of a candidate to go to our website and learn more about the ocean conservation records of each of these candidates.
Keep watching for more endorsements over the next few months. The next wave will include some new faces in Congress with whom we've built excellent relationships, and our third wave will highlight some of the tightest races in the country: new leaders who are challenging existing members of Congress who need to be replaced, as well as a few good members facing tough races who we need to defend.
We'll be asking for your individual support for many of these candidates between now and Election Day. Electing Congressional champions is one of the most powerful things you can do to protect the oceans.
For the oceans,
The Ocean Champions Team
P.S. - No one else does what we do -- evaluate and endorse candidates who support healthy oceans. Join us in the fight.
