Ocean Champions: Political Champions for Ocean Conservation

Last week, we endorsed Linda Ketner (D), an ocean champion fighting a wicked race against our new OCEAN ENEMY #1, Rep. Henry Brown (R-SC).  Brown has opposed OCEANS-21 and thinks it's a great idea to open more coasts to drilling, despite the fact that coastal tourism and ocean recreation is essential to the sustainability of his state.  While this is bad enough, it's even worse when you consider that Rep. Brown serves as the ranking member of the Subcommittee on Fisheries, Wildlife & Oceans of the House Natural Resources Committee.

It's time to get Brown out of Congress and to get a true ocean leader, Linda Ketner, there instead!

We've got a great ad scheduled to run prior to Election Day in the Charleston Post & Courier, the largest paper in Brown's district, and we need your help so we can put the ad in the paper for another day:

This ad is one way that we can make sure Linda wins this critical race.  We need your help to run it.   For only $4100 we can run this ad, created especially for Linda, for an extra day.  And, we all know, an extra day can make a huge difference in a very tight race.

Linda Ketner stands for a healthier future for South Carolina.  She envisions an environment that provides families and ocean lovers with a long lifetime of health and enjoyment.  Polls are showing Ketner closing the gap, and this ad may help her take the lead and win this race.

With your help, we can run this ad for an extra day.  And, we're the only ones who can do it.  Please donate what you can today to help us raise the money needed to advertise for Linda Ketner.

It's the best dollar you'll spend, today!

For the oceans,

The Ocean Champions Team

Ocean Champions Ad In Support of Linda Ketner:  Protect South Carolina's Coasts
Turn Thumbs Down on Brown

South Carolina's beautiful coastline is essential to our quality of life and our economic well-being. But instead of protecting our fragile coasts, Congressman Henry Brown introduced a bill that would make it easier for developers to build on Kiawah Island, one of the jewels of the Lowcountry and one of the last places that needs more development.  And developer Leonard Long claims Brown introduced the bill at his request.

Long-time coastal resident, Linda Ketner promises to advocate on behalf of South Carolina's coastal communities
and to protect the oceans.  That's why she's been endorsed by Ocean Champions. And why we are asking you to vote Tuesday for Linda Ketner for Congress.
