Ocean Champions: Political Champions for Ocean Conservation

Dear Friend,

Can you describe how the oceans are becoming a political force in 90 seconds or less?  Ocean Champions decided to answer the question with a video, AND a challenge for you.  You know the work we do and how important it is for ocean health.  Now you can help us succeed by getting more people involved.  Please share this video with as many of your friends as possible, and we will give the 3 most prolific "sharers" an array of Ocean Champions swag:  a very cool Ocean Champions hat or beenie, a beautiful ocean graphics stainless steel travel mug, and a gift membership! The contest will run until the end of September, so please start spreading the word today.

This video is the first of two collaborations with filmmaker Randy Olson ( Flock of Dodos and Sizzle ) and author (Don't be Such a Scientist - now available on Amazon) to answer the questions:

  • Who is Ocean Champions?
  • What do we do?
  • How is that helping the oceans? and
  • How are we viewed on Capitol Hill?

The first of two videos, a 90-second primer on Ocean Champions and our work in Washington, DC, is now ready for your eyes.  We hope you enjoy the video, and take the next step by sharing it with your friends and family who don't know us yet.

Ocean Champions would like to thank all our Champions on Capitol Hill for their work on behalf of ocean health and would specifically like to thank Congressmen Sam Farr and Connie Mack and Congresswoman Kathy Castor for their encouraging words in this video.  We'd also like to thank Randy Olson and his crew for their great work and patience in working with the Ocean Champions "talent."  Finally, thank you to cinematographer Chuck Davis for sharing some beautiful ocean shots for the video.

Be on the lookout for the second video later this month!

For the oceans,

The Ocean Champions Team
