WEA ProTeach Jump Start is a four-day comprehensive seminar designed to provide candidates with important information about the certification process, time to examine entry requirements, the opportunity to plan how to meet requirements, and time to collaborate, gather resources and information needed to pursue certification.
Feedback from WEA members suggests that support does matter in both the quality of the professional learning experience and certification result. The ProTeach Jump Start is designed on the belief that this is a great opportunity for professional development and growth through collegial support.
Those who are committed to starting the ProTeach portfolio process in the 2016-17 school years should consider attending a ProTeach Jump Start Seminar. You do not need to be registered with Washington ProTeach to attend Jump Start.
Have questions about your Washington State Certification timeline and how ProTeach might fit? Watch all or part of our series of short videos on navigating your state certification options.
You can find out more about the ProTeach Portfolio here.
ProTeach Jump Start tuition includes materials and trainer fees, continental breakfast, lunch, coffee, and snacks. Up to 28 Clock Hours are available for this event; Clock Hour fees are waived for WEA Jump Starts.
All participants are responsible for their own travel, lodging and substitute arrangements and costs. Check with your district or local to see if they can support your logistical needs and your collective bargaining agreement for any funding that might be available to assist with professional development.
Please Note: To run each seminar we require at least 25 registrants. If there are insufficient numbers, we will fully reimburse registrations that have been submitted. Course registration will close if a given event reaches capacity.
Please register from your preferred e-mail address and enter the address accurately in the boxes provided. This will help prevent any communication errors or lost emails!
Before Jump Start begins, you will be receiving an important email from WEA regarding instructions for downloading information vital for a successful candidacy. When you receive it, please read the email, follow the instructions, and note that there will be no access to a printer or copier at our Jump Start location.
You will need your WEA membership ID if you wish to register at the member price. If you are having difficulty locating your WEA membership card, you may continue to register without it and we will find it for you.
If you are not a WEA member and register at the member price, you will be moved to a waitlist and your ticket cost will be refunded until space opens up for your non-member price attendance.
You must read the ProTeach ethics overview as you will be asked during registration to verify that you have read and will follow these guidelines. Click here to read the policy titled, "A Word of Caution."
Question on registration or logistics? Email WEA Staff Stephanie Mikos. Program questions? Email Luke Thomas, WEA ProTeach Jump Start Coordinator Luke Thomas, or Maren Johnson, WEA Certification Specialist Jim Meadows.
Once you have completed the registration and payment process our online system will send you an email confirmation. Please print and save the email confirmation. If you have not received a confirmation within 12 hours of registration, please email Stephanie Mikos for information and further instructions.
