West Side Component 4 Jump Start: Snohomish

For current candidates returning to the National Board Certification process:

WEA is offering a one-day Jump Start for returning candidates to dive into Component 4. Jump Start is an important resource that complements other supports for candidates including facilitated candidate cohorts, and WEA Home Stretch. This one-day Jump Start will only be for current returning candidates who have completed at least one component in the last candidate cycle.

Component 4 - Effective and Reflective Practitioner: Dig into component directions, standards and scoring rubrics to understand what candidates must do in this component, and learn resources for gaining data and assessment literacy skills. Academy participants are existing candidates who have been working on National Board Certification.

Component 4 Collaboration:
Connect with like certificate candidates to co-construct meaning and to dive into a plan for developing component 4.

We look forward to supporting you at a great Jump Start event! Come prepared to learn, think, plan and connect with other amazing teachers. There are several documents you will need to bring to Jump Start to ensure a successful candidacy preparation. Please click here for instructions to download and print these important documents! CTE Candidates please click here. Please note that there will be no access to a printer or copier at the Jump Start location. It will take more time than you think to complete this task -- don't wait until the day before Jump Start!

If you have previously attended WEA Jump Start and still have all of your printed materials, including your standards, five core propositions, and other material, then at this time you just need to print your Component 4 Instructions. You will also want to print an updated "Guide to National Board Certification." See link for instructions. Bring all of your materials to Jump Start.

National Board Renewal Jump Start WEA registration fees include breakfast, lunch, beverages and snacks, training fees, clock hours, and materials. Up to 6 Clock Hours are available for Component 4 Jump Start. All participants are responsible for their own travel and lodging.

WEA Membership

  • You will need your WEA membership ID if you wish to register at the member price. If you are having difficulty locating your WEA membership card, you may continue to register without it and we will find it for you.
  • If you are not a WEA member and register at the member price, you will be moved to a waitlist and your ticket cost will be refunded until space opens up for your non-member price attendance.

You must read the NBPTS Guidelines for Ethical Candidate Support policy as you will be asked during registration to verify that you have read and will follow the guidelines. Click here to read the policy.

Please note that the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) is now completing the roll-out of their revised certification process. Component 4 instructions are available in field test version only. For CTE candidates, Components 2 and 3 are also field test directions.

Important note for World Language Other than English (WLOE) candidates: The National Board recently announced changes to eligibility requirements for World Language candidates. Please see p. 8 of the Guide to National Board Certification for more information. NBPTS states that the Component 1 instructions for World Languages will be available in 2016-2017.

Please Note: To run each seminar we require at least 25 registrants. If there are insufficient numbers, we will fully reimburse registrations that have been submitted. Course registration will close if a given event reaches capacity.

Question on registration or logistics? Email WEA Staff Stephanie Mikos. Program questions? Email WEA National Board Jump Start Coordinator Cindy Rockholt, or WEA Certification Specialist Maren Johnson.

Once you have completed the registration and payment process our online system will send you an email confirmation. Please print and save the email confirmation.
