Mayor Annise Parker recently won the Houston Chronicle's strong endorsement in her bid for reelection. The paper's editorial board said Annise has "demonstrated the courage, integrity and leadership necessary to pilot the city through challenging times."

That's a really impressive vote of confidence for any political leader in these challenging times.

But now, just before Election Day, an anti-gay group has released a last-minute video urging Houstonians to vote against Annise because she's honest about being a lesbian. It doesn't matter that she's been an effective leader in troubled times. They want to make this a referendum on the mayor's sexual orientation.

Let's stop them in their tracks.

This isn't the only instance of anti-gay politics we've seen as Election Day 2011 approaches. With less than two weeks to go, Victory Fund candidates are suffering the whisper campaigns and the gay-baiting a lot of LGBT candidates are forced to endure when it looks like they are going to win.

Help us fight these last-minute attacks.

The Victory Fund has endorsed 75 openly LGBT candidates in 2011 – leaders who will make a difference in their communities. How do we know they'll be effective? Just look at their enemies. They know if people like Annise Parker keep winning, they lose. That's got them spooked, so let's scare the heck out of 'em.

Your support right now will help our 2011 candidates fight back over these next two weeks.
