Empowering Voters. Defending Democracy.

The 2019 Legislative session is one week old and much is happening already. Numerous bills had hearings last week and are moving through committee consideration quickly. Others are still yet to be introduced, and the pace will continue to increase!

The Legislative Calendar provides deadlines for bill introduction. Links below provide information on what is happening now in Olympia and what the League is tracking.

This Week's Alerts!

If you do nothing else, here are the most important actions you can take:

Fight for 100% Clean Energy in our state!

Global warming poses a profound and growing risk to our state's economy and quality of life. The League supports energy legislation that preserves the environment and maintains human health and safety. HB 1211 and SB 5116 further these goals by eliminating the use of fossil fuel generated electrity by 2045.

Modified Police Reform Law Requires Two-Thirds Vote

Companion bills HB 1064 / SB 5029 are the product of a collaboration between law enforcement and families of people killed by police to implement life-saving police reforms. These bills would modify the terms of I-940, which the same families successfully urged voters to pass last November. If approved, the modifications would clarify language in I-940 and make it easier for police to implement in the field.
