12-19-14 Assessment and Project Rebate Deadline

To secure project rebates for 2014, submit your applications by December 19, 2014. Getting your paperwork in by the 19th ensures projects will be counted for the 2014 program. In addition the SMUD HPP assessment rebate ends as of December 19, 2014. In 2015, program resources will be focused on rebates for the expanded list of program measures. This benefits your customers by enabling HPP to offer more attractive incentives and more upgrade options. Mark your calendar: December 19, 2014, is the final day to submit assessments and project rebates for 2014.

Window Requirements Updated

As of July 1, 2014, the Title 24 (code) for windows changed to .32 U factor and .25 Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC). SMUD HPP did not immediately change with these requirements, as we wanted to see what the Energy STAR ratings would be, which are usually tighter than Title 24.  To-date, Energy STAR has not released their final recommendations, so SMUD management has come up with what we will accept moving forward:

  • The U factor will be .30
  • The Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) will be .25

HPP projects in process will be honored as far as rebate is concerned.  Starting January 1, 2015, all projects will have to meet the new requirements of U factor = .30, and SHGC = .25. These requirements will also be in effect for the SMUD window standalone financing program.

New Job Submission Process Reducing Project Turnaround Time

You requested faster turnaround times, less paperwork, and easier submittals in order speed up the project completion and rebate delivery time. Based on your feedback, SMUD HPP launched a streamline job submission process on September 17 designed to remove program obstacles and burdens to help make your work easier. And it is working! The overall lifecycle of a project has dropped from 4 months to less than 2 months! Meaning your customers can expect to start work and receive a rebate as quickly as you can get the work done. Faster turnaround times mean happy customers; happy customers mean good referrals; good referral mean more work — it’s a win-win-win for all.
