Makin' Laws: Voter Access Hearing #1
In our ongoing quest to improve Oregon's democracy—and bring do-gooders like you into the sausage-making madness—we're always traveling to the capitol in Salem to lobby, testify, or just watch the magic happen. Here's one day when you can get in on the action:
What: Oregon House Rules Committee hearing on National Voter Registration Act Compliance.
When: March 13, 2013, 3-5 PM
What it's all about: The Oregon House Rules Committee will be looking at three of our favorite bills this session: 16 year-old pre-voter-registration, improved college voter registration, and improved online voter registration (read more about them here). These bills will make it even easier for Oregonians like you to register to vote. They're three big steps on the road to more modern, secure and hassle-free democracy.
What do you do: We're wrangling a crowd of democracy-lovers such as yourself to fill the hearing room to show that committee just how much this matters to us Oregonians. You don't have to talk or testify unless you want to. If you do want to testify, however, you will be a hero and you should get in touch with Leslie and she'll help you craft your testimony.
How do you do it: We're meeting at Bus Central (333 SE Second Ave in Portland) and carpooling down. Meet here at 1:45 PM and we'll be back around 6ish.
RSVP so we save you a seat.
