Take a Stand!

The goal of Friends of NYCC is to build a network of supporters who understand NYCC's mission –to build an organization that channels the power of low income people of color in this state to fight for the change they believe in.

Friends of NYCC are committed to preserving and resourcing NYCC's unique organizing structure of local chapters, whose leaders govern the organization, and making new “friends” who share in our vision and progressive values.

There is no set dollar amount to become a Friend of NYCC, but in order for our organization to grow, our campaigns to grow, and our victories to grow, NYCC also needs to be able to grow our resources.

What's a Friend of NYCC?

Friends of NYCC are supporters of New York Communities for Change's community-based neighborhood organizing in low and moderate income communities through New York. We want to see progressive change in our state. We think organizing is at its best when the people most affected by the issue are leading the campaigns. We believe that in order for community organizing to flourish, organizations like NYCC need a sustainable base of grassroots donors that respect the organization's mission and decisions of its members.

Friends of NYCC to have the opportunity to build relationships with our members, to provide their creative input on our work, and to offer not just resources but skills and creativity towards our neighborhood chapters and campaigns.

More about NYCC:

Based on the principle that the best solutions to the issues facing low income communities can be found within the communities themselves, New York Communities for Change is a not-for-profit community based organization led by our members-- low and moderate income families throughout the state of New York. Through monthly neighborhood chapter meetings, NYCC members come together to discuss issues in their communities, envision solutions to these issues and formulate campaigns to make these solutions a reality.  NYCC has local chapters in Brownsville, East New York, Flatbush, Southeast Queens, the Bronx, Harlem, Hempstead and Nassau in Long Island, and neighborhood groups in Bedford Stuyvesant, Crown Heights, and Far Rockaway.  But not all issues can be solved one neighborhood at a time. For this reason NYCC also brings members for our neighborhood chapters together to develop campaigns and participate in coalitions to fight these issues on the city and state level.
