Criminal Injustice - Rev. Edward Pinkney and Gov. Don Siegelman
Join us tonight for a very special Christmas Eve show about two men who were champions of social and economic justice and both are now incarcerated. The system is rotten to the core and it not supposed to work like this! When people are killed on camera and those guilty are never brought to trial, this is a travesty of justice. When men stand up for the rights of the poor and they are jailed on imaginary crimes where there are no witnesses, this is injustice.
Date: Wednesday, December 24th
Time: 5pm EST
Link: People Demanding Action Radio - Christmas Eve Solidarity with Rev. Pinkney and Don Siegelman
Ben Ptashnik and Andrea Miller are joined by Dorothy Pinkney (wife of Rev. Pinkney), local reporter Abayomi Azikiwe and Dana Siegelman, daughter of Governor Don Siegelman.
December 15, 2014 should go down as the day when criminal injustice again reigned supreme. Rev. Edward Pinkney was sentenced to 2.5 to 10 years in prison for alleged election fraud and Gov. Don Siegelman was denied his freedom while waiting for his appeal hearing on January 13th.
This Christmas Reverend Pinkney will not be home with his family. He has been sentenced for up to 10 years in Prison on trumped up political charges because he has stood against the1% and the Whirlpool Corporation in Benton Harbor. He is in effect a political prisoner.
Don Siegelman was the extremely popular Democratic Governor of Alabama; there was talk that he could be a contender in the 2004 Presidential primary and stop the Republican takeover of the South. Karl Rove and his operatives knew they had to stop Don Siegelman and they went to extraordinary lengths to destroy his career.
Let's all work to make sure that next December both Rev. Pinkney and Governor Siegelman are at home with their family and friends. Please share this email widely and listen to tonight's show at 5pm EST.
P.S. If you can't listen "live" tonight at 5pm, use the link to listen to the archived show.
