Tomorrow there is a rally pressuring ANZ Bank, a major Australian bank, to stop funding the fossil fuel industry. RSVP to the Facebook event, and see below for more details.
Our friends in Australia have been raising a fuss, but they need our help. Australian companies take their image in the United States very seriously, which is why we're having a rally at the Australian Embassy tomorrow over lunch.
Please come out and bring your office if you can. The Embassy is in downtown DC right at 16th & N St NW, and we'll be done in less than an hour. I hope to see you there.
WHAT: Rally asking Australia’s ANZ Bank to stop its fossil fuel lending, FACEBOOK EVENT
WHEN: 12:00 PM (noon) TOMORROW on Fri, Sept. 2nd
WHERE: Australian Embassy, 1601 Massachusetts Ave. NW (NW corner of Scott Circle), Washington, DC
WHY: ANZ Bank is funding climate chaos, and it's one of Australia’s worst offenders. Since 2008, the bank has lent $23 billion to fossil fuels, over TEN TIMES more than it's lent to renewable energy. Climate activists across the world are calling on ANZ Bank to stop its dirty funding of fossil fuels. We’re showing up at the Embassy to embarrass ANZ Bank and send a clear message that their dirty lending isn’t acceptable anywhere. Climate change is a global struggle, and banks like ANZ are blocking the real solutions we need by loaning money to polluting industries.
